| Its nature |
| Metals and minerals are born all of the combination of mercury and sulfur. The perfect combination gives gold. As a result of diverse accidents hindering its creation, many variety of metal are born such as silver, tin, lead, copper or even iron. Silver is an almost completed pure body. It misses only a little of fixedness, color and weight. |
What mean Sterling Silver and .925 ? |
Sterling silver in its purest state is too soft to make jewels. The silversmiths thus learnt to mix it with another metal such as copper to form a harder alloy.
The silver jewels carry the stamp .925. It means that it is made of 92.50 % of pure silver and in 7.50 % of some other metal (mostly copper) to make the metal easier to work. The higher this number is, the most quantity of pure silver is contained in the jewel. That is why, there are also .950 (5 % of copper) and .980 (2 % only of copper) stamps. These high categories of sterling silver produce the finest jewels with the most brightness.
Please note that all our jewels are made of sterling silver and copper. Nickel is not used as it gives to many allergies. |

How to take care of your sterling silver jewels ? |
Sterling silver pieces can turn yellow then black because of the sulfur contains in the air. This sulfur is bound on the surface of the silver piece which one darkens. It is necessary to clean these objects from time to time. It is possible to protect those pieces to become rusty, to oxidize. The best protection remains the insulation of these jewels of the outside atmosphere when they are not worn. Put them in a cotton dress handkerchief or in a hermetic box. Also try to avoid the contact with wood, rubber, eggs, onions, humidity or also hair lacquer. The fact that silver darkens does not mean that this one is of poor quality. The blackening is a natural process. The purest sterling silver can darken. To return to their original color, simply rub the pieces with a specific fabric, by adding to it some cleaning product specially made for those jewels. It is necessary to avoid dipping them into some solutions or cleaning them with some toothpaste because this one contains abrasive agents who could damage the jewels. The best solution remains to wear them. So, take advantage of it and enjoy !! | |
